Speaking with the Los Angeles Times this past week, Sanders pushed back against the frequent claim he is “too far to the left” to defeat Trump should he win the Democratic Party’s nomination in July. Sanders said the “only way” Democrats can beat Trump is through “unprecedented turnout,” which his campaign will be able to accomplish by encouraging the vast majority of Americans who do not vote to show up on Election Day....

As of Wednesday morning, Biden’s tally of 77,271,279 votes has stretched his popular vote lead to 5,088,900 over Trump, who has so far recorded 72,182,379 votes, according to the Cook Political Report. With legal challenges underway the numbers could change, but so far Biden has netted 50.8 percent of the popular vote, which is 3.4 percentage points more than Trump’s 47.4 percent. The margin has surpassed the gap between former President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in 2012, when Obama defeated the Republican candidate by 4,982,296 votes....

“I just need to make sure whomever I pick…that person is sympatico with where I want to take the nation in terms of domestic and foreign policy,” Biden said during the interview. “I think there are a number of women who are in that category. The lawyers are putting together what will be the nature of the vetting process. It’s got to be thorough, which it would be. We’re looking at when to start sooner than later....

In the latest episode of his hugely influential show The Joe Rogan Experience, the host discussed the effects of the Pfizer vaccine with the Australian TV presenter and podcaster. Rogan claimed that a rare heart condition had been linked to vaccines, but the notion that vaccinated boys had a higher risk of myocarditis—an inflammation of the heart—than boys who caught COVID was debunked by Szeps in real time. The host explained he had read reports about an “adverse risk” of myocarditis among 12 to 17-year-olds who had received the vaccine....

Rogan made the comments on the podcast with guest Iliza Shlesinger, pointing out Biden’s recent gaffe where he called out for Representative Jackie Walorski, despite the fact that she died in a car crash almost two months prior. Depp, 58, filed a $50 million lawsuit against ex-wife Heard, 36, over a 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post, in which she said that she was a domestic abuse survivor. Following a six-week trial, the jury on June 1 awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The judge adjusted the punitive damages to $350,000, as Virginia law limits punitive damages. Heard, who had countersued for $100 million, was awarded $2 million by the jury, which found that Depp’s former attorney, Adam Waldman, had made defamatory comments about the Aquaman star....

The post put into perspective the struggles of individuals born in the 1900s, who survived world-changing events like the two great wars, the Spanish flu, the Great Depression and the Vietnam War. The yearlong Joey Gallo experiment in the Bronx has come to an end, with the Yankees sending Gallo about as far away from New York as possible, trading him for Dodgers pitcher Clayton (dramatic pause). Clayton Beeter, that is. But Logano finished third after the race was red-flagged and called just after halfway. Logano won under caution when a big crash involving Jeff Gordon erupted on the backstretch on the final lap of a green-white-checkered finish.
